Synopsis
Due to frequent misadventures with the supernatural and her hectic school life, Nene Yashiro can barely catch a break until Kamome Academy's annual sleepover event comes around. Nene is excited to blow off some steam with her best friend Aoi Akane and the rest of her class at the get-together. Unbeknownst to her, the sleepover falls on the same date as Urabon, when the line between the dead and the living gets distorted, allowing wicked spirits to come out to the surface. When an evil ghost is about to attack her, Nene is rescued by a mysterious figure: Shinigami, the Sixth Wonder that can trap souls using his flute. In that moment, Shinigami takes notice of Aoi and abducts her to use her as a sacrifice that will close the barrier for good. Joined by Hanako-kun and Akane Aoi, Nene must embark on a journey into the deepest confines of the world of the dead to save her best friend before it is too late. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I need a season 3 more than air. This entire show has been a masterpiece from beginning to end. Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun is a fantastic adaptation of a fantastic manga. The art style is incredible, the plot is phenomenal and INCREDIBLY dark despite the "kiddish" feel the anime sometimes has, and above all, it made me cry multiple times. The way it sets up its plot beats is masterful work by the creators. If you like Madoka Magica, Princess Tutu, or any of the following traits in a show: - dark - plot-heavy - modern/magic mix - unique (and stunning) art style - sprinkling of comedy - with romance on theside this is a fantastic modern anime for you. This is a show that could make me cry one minute, then laugh the next, only to stare in horror at my screen after that. Most people reading this have probably already seen the show so far, considering it is being posted on the second cour of season 2. But this is an anime that deserves every bit of praise, even the ones shouted into the abyss. Critical (and biased) breakdown of one of my favorite shows of all time. This is an INCREDIBLY NITPICKY review of a 10/10 show: ART: 9/10 > The art style is unique and true to the manga. Colors are vibrant and pleasing to the eye. Color and style are also utilized in a few key episodes to evoke certain emotions in the watcher by deviating from the anime's standard palette. Point lost for the characters looking a bit younger than they are (in my opinion), and for the occasional off-model shot. WRITING: 9/10 > Plot starts slow, but ramps up fast. Definitely an anime that benefits from the 3 Episode Rule, but the plot only gets more interesting (and heavy) as episodes go on. Point lost for a personal opinion of mine, which is that the use of comedy after a serious scene can detract from the experience at times. Some watchers may enjoy this; however, I found it a bit frustrating. This becomes less prominent in Season 2. VOICE ACTING [ENG DUB]: 9/10 > Voice actors match the characters well, and their delivery in emotional scenes is phenomenal. A few of the voices may be annoying to some, as with all anime. Point lost because a few (very young) child character voices have the same voice actors as their older selves, which is a little jarring to hear. New voice actors for the very young children would have probably been ideal, but overall, it doesn't detract from the experience too much. MUSIC: 10/10 > One of my personal favorite soundtracks for an anime. Great mix of dramatic and silly, depending on the scene. Songs fit the scenes perfectly, evoking the emotions of the scene and raising them to the next level. No notes. Openings and endings are all bangers.

this is my first review!!! but omg. where do i begin with season!!! I’ll start off with the op, THE BEST OF THE SEASON!!! it truly fits with the tbhk theme and it’s super catchy! The story this season was SSOOOO good, so much suspense with some sprinkle of romance for all those who need that in their life. I wish this season was longer…but sadly we’ll have to wait a while seeing as though there wouldn’t be enough manga to adapt for a new season. #HANANENE4LIFE!!! I love how much depth this story has… you think it’s just some ghosts causing havoc but it’sso much more than that.

IT'S CRIMINAL. Totally criminal to have just 2 reviews for such a masterpiece of an anime, like HELLO ???where the heck is the whole TBHK fandom . Was it always this less ?if so then it's really saddening.I WILL TRY MY BEST TO DO JUSTICE TO THIS AMAZING BEAUTIFUL ANIME . Now, this was an anime i picked on trial basis. Meaning if i like it within first 4 episodes, I'll continue or else I'll drop it. Cuz that's how i roll ^_^. I had never heard of this anime ,as it's literally lowkey and if you see the name ,you will have second thoughts likei did . It was in the seasonal anime releases ,i was like cool let's give it a shot and started with first season. Initially I was so AWESTRUCK by the colours and visuals of the anime that i couldn't even care about the plot lol. It seemed like kids comedy which it does have a touch but it gets darker and darker.Be ready for a heartfelt emotional tear jerking ride.Time flew by watching it and i caught myself on season 2 part 2 10th episode. For the new episodes I had never waited so curiously anticipating as this one and boy did it live up to the expectations !!! What makes an anime truly great? In my books it's when you watch it and get so immersed in it that you lose count of the episodes ,even seasons and when you get at the end it leaves you craving for more. That's how i will describe TBKH in a nutshell . And believe me I'm someone who gets so bored watching some anime that i keep checking on how many episodes are left .but not with this one!! I'll pinpoint the reasons to watch all the seasons and why especially stick to it till the end. 1- THE ANIMATION: 100/10 The fact that the prequel seasons animation kept upgrading is so praise worthy. It was already so visually and aesthetically beautiful but the studio took it to next level .Its artstyle is soo unique and one of a kind compared to other anime i have watched . Initially more then the story it was the animation that kept me going . I personally really adored the eyes of hanako kun and nene chan ,you can't help but admire them. 2-THE PLOT: 11/ 10 The first season was like stage setting for season 2 . The plot kept getting better and more engaging till the end. I won't spoil it as it's something you deserve to discover by yourself. But i will say it does go deep and dark, in the purpose of life and death and what meaning does one's life hold to yourself and to your loved ones. 3-NO FANSERVICE : ∞/10 i just have massive respect for an anime, which don't sexualise their female characters, as that's so rare to see .The anime nowadays can't live without fanservice and that i hate to core .so seeing an anime just focus on plot and characters and no such rubbish is absolutely applaudable .My special thanks to the studio for this. 3-The MUSIC: 10/ 10 I loved all the seasons opening and ending themes, especially this last season opening just hits different and sits so well with the overall vibe of the anime. So no complains at all. 4-THE CHARACTERS: 10/10 The character development of all characters is beautifully done. You just can't help but sympathise with everyone and their struggles. Each character gets the screen time and time to shine .So justice was done in that regard. My fav has always been hanako kun .i love complex dual personalised mcs and he lives up to it. His cuteness and possessiveness is also another level (⌒‐⌒) Lol sooo inshort i have nothing bad to say or point out cuz in my eyes everything was beautifully done. I REALLY want to praise both the mangaka and the production team lerche for bringing forward this masterpiece and for all their efforts and hardwork !! I am SO looking forward to season 3 ,as this really deserves one . So plz give us some good news. For me this is the kind of anime i would rewatch and recommend to others too. And I'm someone who dreads watching anime for first time lol, so you can guess how beautiful it must be. FOR ME THIS WAS THE BEST ANIME THIS SEASON .i really hope it gets the recognition and hype it deserves . Even tho the ending was heartfelt and butterflies in stomach but i have patience issues so i will continue the manga where this season left to support the mangaka. it would be appreciated if anyone knows on which chapter it ended . And if you have read uptil now just go watch dammit ;)

Literally perfect. As a manga reader I couldn't be happier with this cour. It covered one of the best arcs of the manga in such a wonderful way, I'm so happy. I feel especially with season 2, it's been given care and love and it really shows throughout these episodes. Animation in my eyes is great. Looks lovely all around so no complaints on that front. They did a wonderful job on the adaptation itself with following the manga so again, no complaints. I may just be biased as hell as I really love this series but I had a lot of fun with thiscour me getting to see multiple of my favorite moments from the manga being animated here, I couldn't be happier :D :p
